# Following traders

A **follow** (the bot calls it a *copytrade*) is one trader on one chain, plus your rules for copying them. You can run up to 100 at once, each with its own settings.

## Adding a trader

`/copytrade` (or `/follow`) asks for a **handle** (`@frankdegods`) or a **wallet address**, either Solana or EVM (`0x…`).

A handle comes back as a profile card: win rate, PnL, volume, trade count, and the wallet(s) behind it, with a `Solana:` line, an `EVM:` line, or both. The card says how old its data is. If a lookup does not work, the bot tells you why and never guesses an address:

* **No profile / no verified wallet.** Check the spelling, or paste the wallet address.
* **Lookup service didn't answer.** Paste the wallet address instead. That always works.
* **Too many new-trader lookups this hour**, or **new-trader lookups paused for now**. Traders already on MoFo still resolve by handle. For anyone else, paste the wallet address.

**Confirm the address.** Before anything is saved, the bot prints the full wallet address and asks you to tap **✅ Yes, copy this wallet**. Typing does not move past this step, only the button does. Compare the address against the trader's own profile. Every copy will follow that exact wallet, so a wrong address sends your money after someone else's trades.

**Pick a chain** when there is more than one option:

* A pasted **Solana** address is Solana only. There is no chain screen.
* A pasted **`0x` address** can be followed on every EVM chain MoFo runs (BSC, Robinhood and Arc), so you always get the chain screen.
* A **handle** is offered on every chain the trader has a verified wallet for.

The chain screen offers `SOL only`, `BNB only`, `Robinhood only`, `Arc only` (whichever apply) and `All (N)`. The bot writes one follow per chain you pick, and each one keeps its own settings afterwards. If you already follow the trader on some chains, only the chains you don't follow them on yet are shown. The existing follow is left alone.

Then you pick a mode, a size, take profit / stop loss and a name, and see a summary screen. Nothing is written until you tap **✅ Start copying**. The follow is created on the wallet you are using at that moment.

## Modes

The mode answers one question: **what closes the position?** Every mode copies the buy. They differ only in how the position is closed.

| Mode | Copies the trader's sell? | Runs our exit rules? | What closes your position |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------------- | -------------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| 💎 **Buy & Hold** ⭐ default | No | No | You do, by hand or with your TP/SL |
| ⚡ **Auto-Exit** (recommended) | No | Yes | The exit rules you switch on, plus your TP/SL |
| 🪞 **Mirror** | Yes | No | The trader's own sell, plus your TP/SL |

**Buy & Hold is the default because it is the only mode that sells nothing on its own.** Nothing sells automatically unless you pick a mode that sells. If you set no triggers, only you can close those positions, from 📊 Positions. The wizard warns you about this on the screen where you skip triggers.

**Auto-Exit is recommended** for fast memecoin traders, but you have to choose it. It is not the default. Switching to it does not arm anything by itself: every exit rule stays off until you turn it on. See [Exits](/exits.md).

**Mirror is always late.** Your sell only starts after the trader's sell, so your exit always lands after theirs. You also lost a block getting in. On a fast scalp that gap can be the whole trade: a trader closed +29.5% while the wallets copying their sells ended at −53% on the same coin. Pick Mirror for real swing traders. Before a Mirror follow is created, the bot asks you to tap **✅ I understand — use 🪞 Mirror**. The same screen has a button to switch to Buy & Hold instead. The warning shows again every time you open the follow.

Your own take profit and stop loss fire in **every** mode. You set them, so the mode never overrides them.

## Sizing

| Sizing | Range | What it does |
| ------------------- | ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| 💵 **Fixed $** | $1 – $10,000 | Every copied buy is this dollar amount. |
| 📊 **% of balance** | 0.1% – 100% | Every copied buy is this share of your spendable balance: what is left after the chain's fee or gas reserve. |
| ⚖️ **Proportional** | cap $1 – $10,000 | Copies the trader's own dollar size, one for one, up to this amount per trade. |

Proportional follows *how strongly* the trader bet. The cap stops one whale-sized entry from taking your whole balance.

## Take profit / stop loss

Optional. You set them per follow, and they apply to every position the follow opens. The one-tap presets are `+50% / −25%`, `+100% / −50%`, `+300% / −50%` and `Stop loss only −50%`. **✏️ Custom** takes `TP/SL`: `100/50`, `100/-` for take profit only, `-/50` for stop loss only. **⏭ Skip** sets none. Ranges, and what a stop can and cannot do, are on [Exits](/exits.md).

## Names

You can give a follow a name ("Degen Dave", "the BONK guy") of up to 32 characters. A longer name is refused, not cut short. The name comes first in your list, on the follow's screen and on receipts, and the handle or shortened wallet stays next to it. If you tap **⏭ Skip**, the handle (or shortened wallet) is used instead.

## Your follow list

`/copytrades` (or `/follows`) lists every follow. Each line shows 🟢 (copying) or ⏸ (paused), the follow's name, a chain badge for non-Solana follows (`[BNB]`, `[Robinhood]`, `[Arc]`) and its sizing. Tap a follow to open it. From the list you can also use:

* **➕ Copy Trader**: start the wizard.
* **⏸ Pause all**: asks first (**⏸ Yes, pause all** / **Keep going**), then stops new buys on every follow. Exits and TP/SL keep working according to each follow's mode.
* **▶️ Resume all**: appears once everything is paused. It resumes every follow straight away, with no confirmation step.
* **🪙 Pump-only: on/off**: the account-wide coin filter that every follow inherits unless you set it differently for that follow. See [Entry filters & risk limits](/entry-filters-and-risk-limits.md).

Open a follow to see its screen:

| Line | Meaning |
| --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Chain** | shown for BSC, Robinhood and Arc follows |
| **Status** | 🟢 copying or ⏸ paused |
| **Mode / Size / Triggers** | what you chose |
| **Min trade** | $1. The trader's own trades under this are ignored as dust. |
| **Max open** | 100. The number of open positions this follow may hold on its chain. |
| **Max at risk** | $10,000 (default). The total open cost basis this follow may hold. Copies are trimmed to fit, and skipped when it is full. |
| **Coins** | every coin your trader buys, or launchpad coins only |
| **Closes automatically on** | exactly what will sell this follow's positions without you pressing a button, or *nothing* |

You can't change Min trade, Max open or Max at risk yet. The screen shows them because they are enforced, and a limit you can't see makes the bot look broken. The max-at-risk cap is on by default because it is the only defence that actually works against a thin-pool collapse. No stop loss is fast enough.

Buttons:

* **⏸ Pause / ▶️ Resume**: pausing stops new buys for this follow. Open positions stay open.
* **✏️ Edit**: see below.
* **🗑 Remove**: asks first (**🗑 Yes, remove** / **Keep**). No more copies from this trader. Positions you already hold stay in your wallet, and any TP/SL or exit rules on this follow **keep running on them**. You can also sell them yourself from 📊 Positions.

If a follow hits your losing-streak limit, its buys stop and you get a message with a **Resume** button. Tapping it resumes buys and resets the streak count. See [Entry filters & risk limits](/entry-filters-and-risk-limits.md).

## Editing a follow

✏️ Edit opens these options:

| Button | What you can change |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🔀 **Mode** | Buy & Hold, Auto-Exit or Mirror. Switching to Mirror asks you to confirm first. |
| 💵 **Size** | Sizing type and amount, with the same ranges as the wizard. |
| 🎯 **TP/SL** | The same presets, **✏️ Custom**, or **🚫 Clear** to remove both. In Custom, `-` also clears both. |
| ⚙️ **Exit rules** | The five Auto-Exit rules, each on or off, and their numbers. See [Exits](/exits.md). |
| 🪙 **Pump-only** | **Account default (on/off)**, **On** or **Off** for this trader. On an EVM follow this reads **Launchpad-only**. |
| 🧢 **MC filter** | **✏️ Min MC**, **✏️ Max MC**, or **🚫 Account default** to go back to your account filter. |
| 📏 **Buy size** | The trader's own buy size: **✏️ Min size**, **✏️ Max size**, or **🚫 Account default**. It is typed in the chain's own coin: SOL, BNB, ETH, or USDC on Arc. |
| 🎓 **Stage** | **Account default**, **Pre-grad** or **Graduated**. On an EVM follow this is the launchpad's curve stage. |
| 📛 **Name** | Send a new name, or `-` to remove it. |

Changes apply from the follow's next copy. A per-follow filter **replaces** the account filter for that trader instead of combining with it, and each screen says which one is in force. Filters only affect buys. Positions you already hold are still sold normally. Filter details are on [Entry filters & risk limits](/entry-filters-and-risk-limits.md).

> **Arc follows and Launchpad-only.** Arc has no launchpad, so if Launchpad-only is on for an Arc follow (including when it inherits 🪙 Pump-only from your account), **every Arc buy is skipped**. To copy on Arc with Pump-only on for your account, set the Arc follow's 🪙 to **Off**.

## Buy-once cooldown

This is an account-wide setting and it is on by default. It allows one buy per coin per 10-minute window, so a trader who fires five buys into the same coin gives you one entry, not five. Repeat buys of a coin you already hold are skipped as `buy cooldown is active` until the window ends. **Selling the coin lets you buy it again straight away.** You can switch the cooldown off in [Trade settings](/trade-settings.md).
