# Exits

Three things can sell a position without you pressing a button: **your take profit / stop loss**, **the exit engine** (Auto-Exit only), and **the trader's own sell** (Mirror only). Each follow's screen shows which of these apply to it on the *Closes automatically on* line. If none apply, it says *nothing*.

All of this works on every chain: Solana, BSC, Robinhood and Arc.

## Take profit / stop loss

These are percentages from your average cost. You set them per follow, and they apply to every position the follow opens. They work in every mode.

|             | Range          |
| ----------- | -------------- |
| Take profit | +1% – +10,000% |
| Stop loss   | −1% – −99%     |

One-tap presets (the buttons show the numbers):

| Button                | TP    | SL   |
| --------------------- | ----- | ---- |
| `+50% / −25%`         | +50%  | −25% |
| `+100% / −50%`        | +100% | −50% |
| `+300% / −50%`        | +300% | −50% |
| `Stop loss only −50%` | none  | −50% |

To set your own values, tap **✏️ Custom** and type `TP/SL`: `100/50`, `100/-` (take profit only), `-/50` (stop loss only). On an existing follow, **🚫 Clear** (or typing `-`) removes both.

For a one-off order on a single position, such as a stop at a market cap, a partial take profit, or taking your stake off, use limit orders instead. See [Positions & selling](/positions-and-selling.md).

### What a stop loss will and will not do

**Triggers check prices about every 2 seconds.** That is fast enough to catch a slow slide. It is not fast enough for a pool collapse: a thin pool can fall −80% in under 20 seconds, and no stop fires in time.

If you treat "stop loss" as crash protection and size your trades on that basis, you will lose more than you expect. Your real crash defence is the per-follow **max at risk** cap, not the stop.

## The exit engine (Auto-Exit only)

There are five independent rules. You set them per follow under ✏️ Edit → ⚙️ Exit rules. **All of them are off by default.** You turn on the ones you want. Each rule comes with suggested numbers, which you can change before turning it on. A rule that is off has no effect.

| Rule                  | Suggested                          | What it does                                                                                                                                    |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Take initials** | at +25%, sell 75% | Sells most of the position on the first real move. The remaining 25% is your moonbag. |
| **Moonbag trail** | 25% off peak, arms at +10% | Sells what take initials left once the price falls back from its highest point. It only starts watching once the position has actually been up. |
| **Floor (stop-loss)** | −45%, tightening to −20% after 50s | Sells the whole position at a loss once it falls this far below your entry. The floor starts loose while the entry settles, then tightens. |
| **Wave-cut** | after 90s, if never +5% | Sells the whole position at whatever the price is then if it never got moving, so a dead entry stops using up your exposure. |
| **Hard time cap** | 5 minutes (300s) | Sells the core position at whatever the price is then once it reaches this age. The moonbag is not affected. |

### Ranges

Each number can be set within these limits. The bot refuses anything outside them rather than rounding it.

| Rule          | Setting              | Range         |
| ------------- | -------------------- | ------------- |
| Take initials | Take at              | +5% – +1,000% |
|               | Sell size            | 5% – 95%      |
| Moonbag trail | Trail                | 5% – 90%      |
|               | Trail arms at        | +0% – +500%   |
| Floor         | Opening floor        | −5% – −95%    |
|               | Floor tightens after | 1s – 3,600s   |
|               | Tight floor          | −5% – −95%    |
| Wave-cut      | Wave-cut after       | 5s – 3,600s   |
|               | Wave-cut needs peak  | +0% – +500%   |
| Hard time cap | Time cap             | 10s – 86,400s |

### How the screen works

The ⚙️ Exit rules screen lists all five rules as 🟢 on or ⬜ off. Tap a rule to see what it sells, its numbers, and a **✅ Turn on** / **⛔ Turn off** button. Tap a number to change it.

Changing a number does not turn the rule on. A floor you typed does nothing until the rule is on, and the screen tells you so. Numbers you haven't changed keep following our suggestions. If you type the suggested value back in, the number goes back to following the suggestion. **↩️ Reset numbers** puts every number back to the suggestions. It doesn't turn any rule on or off.

The rules check prices about once a second. They keep your exits disciplined, but they are not crash protection: the same "−80% in seconds" warning as the stop loss applies.

### Why Auto-Exit and Mirror cannot both apply

A mode either mirrors the trader's exit or runs our rules, never both. If both could sell the same tokens at the same time, they would race each other, and that race is the kind of delay the exit engine is meant to remove. On a Mirror or Buy & Hold follow, the exit-rules screen says plainly that the rules do not run there.

## What a triggered sell looks like

Every automatic sell sends you a receipt saying what triggered it, along with your realized PnL:

* *take-profit hit*
* *stop-loss hit*
* *initials taken off*
* *trailing stop hit*
* *floor hit*
* *no-wave exit*
* *time cap reached*

A sell you place yourself reads *manual sell*. The same labels show in `/history`. See [Notifications & history](/notifications-and-history.md).

## Removing or pausing a follow

Pausing a follow stops new buys only. Removing a follow stops future copies, but the positions it already opened stay in your wallet, and that follow's TP/SL and exit rules **keep running on them**. To close them now, sell from 📊 Positions.

## When an exit does not land

Once an exit has been decided, pricing and filters can't block it, but the market can still refuse it. A sell that keeps failing is retried with wider slippage (up to your sell-slippage limit), and then moves to slower retries. The position stays yours the whole time, and a manual sell from 📊 Positions always starts a fresh attempt. Details are in [Notifications & history](/notifications-and-history.md).
